Purpose:
To work alongside The Green Spot management team to plan and promote events and in-store promotions, as well as work with outside clients to book and plan private events to be held within The Green Spot.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Work alongside management to plan and promote monthly Green Spot events
- Work alongside management to implement and promote sales and in-store promotions.
- Work with external clients and vendors to book and promote events within The Green Spot
- Market The Green Spot as an event space to private and commercial clients.
- Manage social media content creation and posts for The Green Spot and The Secret Garden Café
- Daily posts on The Green Spot and The Secret Garden Cafes social media accounts.
- Maintain a bi-weekly blog on current events at The Green Spot and The Secret Garden Café
- Grow our social media and mailing list subscribers
Education
- High School or Equivalent
- Post Secondary education with a focus on marketing would be an asset.
Experience
- Minimum 4 years in a retail or hospitality environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience in a Home & Garden retail setting would be an asset
- Experience managing retail social media would be an asset
- Experience with graphic design software would be an asset
- Experience with Canva would be an asset
- Experience with Lightspeed R-Series Point of Sale would be an asset
- Experience with event planning and execution would be an asset
- Must possess Class 5 driver’s license.
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office
Working Conditions
- Office work within a functioning production greenhouse
- Event work may require the candidate to work in the greenhouse at times where the temperature and humidity are high.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Schedule will be primarily Tuesday to Saturday, however events taking place outside primary hours will require the candidates schedule be adjusted for.
- Some duties may require the candidate to make off-site visits to clients and/or vendors.
The Social Media & Events Coordinator will report to the Owner, Bernie Whetter, with probationary supervision from the Technology Services Manager.
Full time hourly position – 40 hours per week
Wage: $18 - $22 /hr (Negotiated based on qualifications)
